Company Milestones

 1963 Consolidated Rutile Limited (CRL) registered
 1966 Commenced dry mining on North Stradbroke Island (NSI)
 1978 CRL commissioned its first dredge and concentrator to mine the Bayside orebody on the west coast of NSI (CRL’s first use of this wet mining method)
 1985 CRL commenced mining operations on a second orebody called Gordon at the southern end of the island
 1991 CRL set up a vegetation monitoring program using pre-mining and post-mining transects. Data collected includes frequency counts and cover estimates. The main objective was to provide a guide as to whether the rehabilitation would meet required standards and to assess the long term development of the vegetation towards a self-sustaining system
 1994 CRL’s nursery for native seedlings received accreditation
 1996/1997  CRL relocated dredging and concentrator equipment from the Bayside Mine to the Ibis orebody at the southern end of the island
 1998 Australian mining company Iluka Resources Limited acquired majority interest in CRL
 1999 Gordon mine relocated to the Yarraman orebody at the northern end of the island
 1999 CRL submitted inaugural Public Environment Report
 2000 Establishment of an Oxleyan Pygmy Perch research and breeding program
 2002 Establishment of the Koala Tracking Program
 2003 Board approved plans to upgrade the Ibis mine operations in early 2004. This enabled dredging directly from the Ibis mine to the new Enterprise deposit, located in the centre of the island
 2003 CRL started sponsoring the University of Queensland's Dugong research in Moreton Bay.
 2003 CRL discovered the Glossy Black Cockatoo during pre-mine studies and developed an extensive management and conservation plan on the island
 2003 Ibis Canal was developed to avoid impact on lagoons in the area.
 2004 Enterprise mine operations commissioned
 2005 Establishment of the Environmental Working Group
 2005 Establishment of the Community Peer Support Group
 2009 Australian minerals mining company Unimin Australia Limited acquired majority interest in CRL
