In 2005, CRL facilitated the establishment of a community group focused on implementing much-needed counselling and support services to address sensitive social issues on North Stradbroke Island including youth suicide prevention, alcoholism and domestic violence.

With CRL’s support and funding, the group has developed a contact book listing relevant support resources, a “crisis line” magnet and organised Peer Support Training where nominated local citizens learnt to identify people in trouble and how to help them by providing “emotional first aid”.
